Film selection criteria
Films screened at the Chamonix Film Festival are selected from a large number of submissions. A team of film and mountain professionals choose our finalists. The film selection criteria reflect the festival’s DNA.
-
- Mountains should be a character in the film, and not just scenery.
- The story should convey mountain values: respect for the environment, teamwork, commitment, solidarity, etc.
- The film should convey mountain culture, history and heritage.
- The story should aim to evoke the powerful emotions inherent to time spent in the mountains.
- Mountaineering is symbolic of mountain exploration, but other non-mechanical sports (skiing, trekking, paragliding, trail running) also embody this spirit of exploration and adventure and are welcome.
