Fifty years ago, three mountaineers hiked deep into a sacred, hidden Himalayan valley overlooked by Mount Tseringma, the most holy of all mountains, yet unconquered by the era’s increasing number of mountaineering expeditions. The Sherpa people believed that to summit Tseringma would bring her wrath. But, times were changing and old traditions were falling out of favour…
