Summary
Glaciologist, naturalist, and mountaineer, Joseph Vallot built a refuge at 4,362 meters altitude at the end of the 19th century, not far from the summit of Mont Blanc. This base camp was the setting for numerous experiments making him a pioneer in understanding high-altitude environments. Alongside a collection of scientists, we explore his invaluable legacy.
