Summary

 Mueez Ud Din grew up in Hunza – home to one of the greatest concentrations of high mountains on Earth – in Pakistan’s remote north-east. From an early age, he listened to stories from his uncles – mountain workers on foreign expeditions – about the peaks towering above his home. Their first ascents claimed, always by outsiders. Never by a Pakistani. 

In Zindabad, Mueez sets out with his uncle and mentor Javed Ali, and French alpinist Mathieu Maynadier, to open a new route on the highest 7,000-metre peak visible from his bedroom window. 

Pushing into an unexplored glacier, they race against a rapidly closing weather window and avalanche-prone slopes with bare-bones equipment – a first for Mueez. 

But this expedition is about more than a line on a map…
