Hermann Huber has always looked at his life as a mountaineer as a part of a puzzle – only complete when family, friendships, work, curiosity and love find their place in it. Born on September 20th in 1930, growing up in Munich and the Bavarian alps, he started working at ‘Salewa Leather items’ Company at the age of 15. He kept growing the mountain sports division until he became managing director in 1972 and was known everywhere as “Mr. Salewa”. In addition to his career, Hermann had much success with climbing across the globe. Even at an advanced age his enthusiasm and curiosity are infectious, making him a legend in the climbing world and a role model for many.
