Summary

A challenge is proposed to three prisoners condemned to long sentences: to go to the ascent of the Mont Blanc. To be part of the adventure, the prisoners must show good will and be physically fit. From the Bourg-en-Bresse penitentiary to the Alps, the journey of the prisoners for whom this project offers a real revenge on their tormented lives.

The choice of the festival

Initiated by the mountaineer Marc Batard, the association En Passant Par La Montagne has been building bridges between the mountains and populations in social distress for 27 years. This film features three prisoners serving long sentences, facing a “highly” symbolic challenge, climbing the Mont Blanc. Around them, there are the guides, the judiciary, the mountain world which is opposed in every way to the prison world. Here, the key word is freedom. For Michel, Toumy and Frédéric, who have been deprived of this freedom for a long time, the adventure is the first step towards a return to society, a reconquest of themselves. A moving and masterful film.
