Summary

On February 2, 2021, renowned polar explorer Vincent Colliard and his partner Caroline Côté, an adventure filmmaker and ultra-marathon athlete, began a winter crossing of Svalbard’s vast and rugged territory. Completely autonomous for more than two months and over a distance in excess of 1,000km, they had to use strength, daring and endurance in order to achieve the objective they had set themselves: the first North-South crossing of the main island of Spitsbergen in the heart of the polar winter.

The choice of the festival

Caroline Côté and Vincent Colliard tackle the first winter crossing of Spitzbergen. Autonomy, random ice and polar bears are the order of the day. Pulling heavy sleds, they show total commitment. Their masterfully made film immerses us in this world of cold and uncertainty. We shiver with them, and not only because of the blizzard. A masterfully made film and a great achievement!
