Summary

An incredible journey up one of the world’s most iconic mountains, accompanied by an exceptional guide!

The Matterhorn is one of the most beautiful and well-known peaks in the world. On the Swiss side it is elegant, slender and harmonious, while on the Italian side it is majestic and imposing, and seems to have been carved with an axe. It is one of the most popular climbs in the Alps.

Hervé Barmasse, an Italian high mountain guide, takes us climbing this mythical mountain via the Lion’s ridge, considered the queen of the Alps.

The choice of the festival

Hervé Barmasse est un fou du Cervin. Il en connait chaque recoin, en a gravi toutes les voies et réalisé bon nombre de premières. Il s’adonne ici à un exercice passionnant, une visite guidée de la célèbre montagne des Alpes par son itinéraire le plus spectaculaire, celui de l’arête du Lion. Hervé se promène et nous raconte les anecdotes historiques et personnelles. La rivalité entre Antoine Carel et Edouard Whymper, la déception du guide italien de voir échapper la première, ses souvenirs d’ascensions sur le versant sud au rocher instable… Cela donne une irrésistible envie de partir gravir cet itinéraire, à condition que ce soit Hervé qui passe devant, bien sûr !
