In the mountains

from 9 to 13 june 2021

This is the uniqueness of our festival, it also takes place in the mountains! It’s up to you to take action with outings supervised by the Compagnie des guides de Chamonix, photo and video training and the Petzl Altitude Camp, which will give you the unforgettable experience of a high mountain bivouac.

The Petzl Altitude Camp

Go for an unforgettable bivouac

It’s a crazy idea for a festival; to organise a high-altitude bivouac experience with workshops, all under the supervision of experienced guides. An idea that had been in the minds of our friends at Petzl for a long time, without having been able to put it into practice. We asked them to take up the challenge and here is the Petzl Altitude Camp, a 24-hour experience at altitude in the heart of Mont Blanc…

You will be picked up by a mountain guide at planB, the base camp of the festival. You will then take the Aiguille du Midi cable car and the Panoramic Mont-Blanc to the Helbronner point where you will be welcomed by the guides and athletes of the Petzl team.

After picking up your equipment (tent, food and technical gear), the guides will accompany you to the bivouac site. In the alpine tradition, the bivouac is ephemeral, set up at nightfall and dismantled in the early morning. No trace of the bivouac should be left, discretion and respect for the site are required. The sanitary rules in force at the time of the festival will be scrupulously respected. The meal will be that of a high altitude camp, freeze-dried food of your choice and collective hot water.

From 7pm, you will attend the film screenings. The next morning, after dismantling the bivouac, you will participate in educational workshops, specially designed for you and supervised by Petzl guides.

Attention, the number of places is limited, only 20 privileged people will have the chance to go to the Petzl Altitude Camp on Friday June 11th and Saturday June 12th 2021.

Camp location

The camp will be located between the Col du Géant and the Petit Flambeau at 3350m. Twenty individual tents and one Samaya base-camp type collective tent will be set up close to the Torino refuge. In order to keep the bivouac spirit and in respect of the rules of the Massif du Mont Blanc, the camp will be set up each evening and then dismantled in the early morning.
